As announced, Edelstahl Rosswag and PFINDER report on the successful completion of a joint project to optimize non-destructive dye penetrant testing, which increases both the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the process. Part 2 follows here:

Safety-critical components are 100% tested on a test system using a PFINDER 860 dye penetrant method of sensitivity class 2. This method is part of non-destructive material testing and enables a targeted inspection of the component surface for the finest defects.

The PFINDER 860 is applied to the residue-free cleaned surface. The exceptionally high creep capacity of the penetrant utilizes the capillary effect of the finest cracks or pores that are open to the surface.

After a set exposure time, the excess penetrant is removed from the surface with water. A developer (PFINDER 871) is then applied, which absorbs the penetrant remaining in the cracks or pores locally after a certain development time.

The indications on the surface after the penetration time become visible when viewed under daylight. These are evaluated by trained test personnel on the basis of defined criteria.
